Bulldogs Place 5th With 4-2 Win Over YSU


INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler men's tennis team finished its season with a 4-2 win over Youngstown State. The victory clinched for the Bulldogs fifth place in the Horizon League.

The Bulldogs (7-17) got doubles wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles for an early 1-0 lead, then claimed three singles matches for the victory. The No. 1 singles showdown between Horizon League Player of the Year Brandon Bayliss and YSU's all-league player Tariq Ismail went unfinished.

Seniors Chris Herron and Lenz Theodor and junior Zach Ervin each rolled to decisive wins to clinch the victory. At No. 2 singles, Herron won 6-2, 6-4 over Felipe Rosa and Theodor beat Zeeshan Ismail 6-2, 6-2 in the fourth spot. Ervin won 6-3, 6-1 over Max Schmerin at No. 3.
