NORMAL, Ill. - The Butler men's tennis team lost, 7-0, at Illinois State over the weekend. The Dawgs, who play one of the tougher non-conference schedules in the Midwest, fell to 1-4 with the loss. Illinois State is 3-0.
The Redbirds swept the doubles point by winning all three doubles bouts before winning all six singles matches. Five of the six were in straight sets. Lenz Theodor was the most competitive Bulldog player, winning his second set against Tuomas Manner at No. 4 singles. Manner won the tie-breaker third set.
Butler resumes play at Bradley Saturday, Feb. 5.
