CINCINNATI - The Butler men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision at Xavier Tuesday afternoon. Butler's next match is Sunday, Feb. 20 at home against Toledo.
XU (2-5) won a pair of decisions at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to claim the doubles point to start the match. The No. 1 doubles match, featuring junior Chris Herron and senior Bryce Warren in a 7-7 tie, wasn't finished.
Leading 1-0, the Musketeers swept all six singles points. Two of the matches went to third-set tie-breakers, but the Bulldogs (1-7) couldn't get on the board. Senior Brandon Bayliss fell to XU's Bobby Deye in a close three-setter at No. 1 5-7, 7-5, 1-0. The same fate befell junior Zach Ervin at No. 5 singles. Ervin won the first set and lost the second set in a tie-breaker before falling to Patrick Bandy.
