INDIANAPOLIS - Butler men's tennis seniors Brandon Bayliss and Lenz Theodor were named CoSIDA Academic All-District VI At-Large. Voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America, the program recognizes the nation's top-performing athletes who excel in the classroom.
Bayliss, the 2011 Horizon League Men's Tennis Player of the Year, was a first-team all-district honoree and is now eligible for Academic All-America honors. Theodor was voted second team academic all-district. The two players were doubles partners 24 times this season.
The two seniors were both starters for the Bulldogs the last few years. Bayliss, from Sheboygan, Wis., emerged as the team's No. 1 singles player and went 7-0 against league competition, earning player of the year honors. He finished 17-15 in singles play and won 11 matches at No. 1 singles. He also won 16 doubles matches, playing mostly at No. 2 doubles.
Theodor, a native of Jakarta, Indonesia, won 11 singles matches and played mostly at No. 4 singles. He won 16 doubles matches, mostly at No. 2 doubles with Bayliss.
