Woldmoe Leads BU During Ohio Weekend
Freshman Austin Woldmoe went undefeated in singles and doubles play to lead the Butler men's tennis team over the weekend. BU lost to both Cleveland State and Youngstown State 5-2.
Woldmoe won at No. 1 singles twice over the weekend and teamed with classmate Billy Weldon for a 2-0 mark at No. 1 doubles. The freshman from Fishers, Ind., defeated CSU's Yannick Goossens 6-3, 6-4. He and Weldon also won 8-6 over Viking No. 1 doubles team Ali Shabib and Nolan Marks.
Freshman Tommy Marx also won at CSU, taking a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Matt Kuelker at No. 2 singles.
The next day, Woldmoe rolled past Youngstown State's top player, Tariq Ismail, 6-1, 6-3. He and Weldon won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Butler's other point against the Penguins came from senior Zach Ervin, who won in three sets at No. 3 singles.
Woldmoe finished the regular season 5-2 at No. 1 singles against league opponents.
