KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Butler men's tennis team finished play at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional over the weekend. The Bulldogs came away with a winning record in doubles play and a freshman, Tommy Marx, won a match in the singles main draw.
Marx, who won 6-4, 7-5 in the first round of the singles draw, fell to Tennessee's Hunter Reese in the second round. Senior Zach Ervin and freshmen Austin Woldmoe and Sam O'Neill each won a match in the consolation draw before each bowed out to an opponent from an SEC school.
Butler's doubles play was the highlight of the tournament, with two BU doubles teams winning twice. Ervin and O'Neill combined for a pair of wins before dropping an 8-6 match to a team from Kentucky. Woldmoe and freshman Billy Weldon also won twice before falling 8-4 to a team from Memphis.
Butler's tennis program will host an alumni match Saturday, Oct. 29.
