COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Butler men's tennis team was swept 7-0 by the No. 4 team in the nation, Ohio State, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bulldog who saw the most singles success was Tommy Marx at No. 3. Playing Devin McCarthy, an All-Big Ten player last year, Marx won eight games in a 7-6 (6), 6-2 loss. OSU's No. 1 player, Peter Kobelt, is currently the top-ranked player in the country and Austin Woldmoe won five games in a 6-3, 6-2 loss.
Additionally, Ohio State's No. 4 player, Connor Smith, is ranked 13th in the nation. Sam O'Neill turned in a competitive second set against Smith in a 6-0, 6-4 loss.
Ohio State swept doubles play. Brandon Woods and O'Neill saw the most success, falling 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.
BU will continue on the road against tough competition this week. The Bulldogs are at Vanderbilt Friday, Jan. 18 at 5 p.m.
