A week after securing their first win of the season, the Butler men's tennis team will travel to Dayton on Friday, Jan. 31 and end the weekend with a home match vs. Valparaiso on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Butler Bubble. Each match will begin at 2 p.m.
The Bulldogs defeated Youngstown State 5-2 on Jan. 24 in the team's home opener, and will look to continue their success against two former conferences opponents. Butler and Dayton met once during the 2013 season as members of the Atlantic-10, when Butler secured a 5-2 home win to kick off a four-match winning streak.
Butler and Valparaiso last met in the spring of 2012 as members of the Horizon League. The Bulldogs defeated the Crusaders that season 5-2 on the road.
Dayton will be looking to secure their first win of the season, starting off 0-2 after losing to #8 Kentucky 7-0 and SIU Edwardsville 4-3. The Flyers are coming off of a 2-18 season in 2013, in which the team ended the year on a 15-game losing streak.
Valparaiso (2-0) will look to extend their two-match winning streak, after defeating Indiana Wesleyan and Olivet Nazarene by a combined score of 13-1. The Crusaders are coming off an 11-12 season in 2013, including a 0-6 record in the Horizon League.
