INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler men's tennis team improved to 3-1 on the year with a 5-2 victory over Valparaiso on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs picked up the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Sam O'Neill and Billy Weldon were victorious at the top spot with a 6-1 win, while Brandon Woods and Pulok Bhattacharya took down their matchup 6-3 at No. 3 Doubles.
The Woldmoe brothers were active for Butler at No. 2 Doubles, but the match went down in the record book as unfinished.
Four of the six singles matches were wins for Butler as the 'Dogs took down the Crusaders at No. 1, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6. Bhattacharya won in straight-sets at the top spot 6-3, 6-2 and it was Austin Woldmoe with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 winner at the No. 3 spot.
Brandon Woods and Tommy Marx iced the win by defeating their opponents at No. 4 and No. 6 Singles respectively. Woods won 6-5, 6-4 at No. 4 and Marx was busy with a 6-2, 1-6, 10-4 win.
