INDIANAPOLIS – The men's tennis team will play Northern Illinois, Toledo and IUPUI this week. The first match will be played at Northern Illinois on Thursday, Feb. 20. The weekend will feature a home match vs. Toledo on Saturday followed by a cross-town match vs. IUPUI at the Five Seasons Racquet Club on Sunday.

The Bulldogs are 5-2 overall early in the 2014 indoor season. The team is 4-1 at home and 1-1 on the road. After an away loss to nationally-ranked Ohio State, Butler rattled off five-straight wins to take the team into mid-February on a roll. A recent loss to ASA snapped the streak, but Butler will look to get back to their winning ways at Northern Illinois.

The Huskies are 7-3 overall with a perfect 7-0 record at home. The team lost at Drake 4-3 in the season opener, but followed that effort with a six-match winning streak, with all six wins coming in Rockford, Ill. Two Big Ten teams knocked Northern Illinois off their pedestal as Indiana and Iowa each defeated the Huskies 5-2. NIU responded to the losses by recently beating IUPUI 6-1.

Toledo will face Indiana on Friday before traveling to Butler on Saturday. The team is currently 4-9 overall, but winless (0-6) on the road. Recent matches have shown mixed results as the Rockets went 3-2 during their five-match home stand. Wins came against Youngstown State, Wayne State and Dayton. The losses were to IPFW and Green Bay.

The weekend will come to a close with a 12 p.m. match vs. IUPUI at the Five Seasons Racquet Club. IUPUI (2-9) has struggled thus far in the year as they enter the matchup having lost six-straight. The Jaguars beat Marian in the season opener (6-1) and swept Cardinal Stritch on a neutral court, but the team lost four of their last five matches by the final score of 6-1.
