Men’s Tennis Records 5-2 Win Over DePauw

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler men's tennis team defeated DePauw on Wednesday afternoon by the final score of 5-2. The Bulldogs swept all three double matches and won the event by earning four wins in single competition.

The doubles point went to Butler after Brandon Woods and Sam O'Neill defeated Eric Vannatta and Alex Kaczkowski 8-3 at the No. 2 spot. Austin Woldmoe and Billy Weldon had already recorded an 8-1 win at No. 1 Doubles to give BU the advantage. The final doubles court featured Tommy Marx and Alex Woldmoe defeating their opponents 8-6 at No. 3.

All six single matches were finished in straight sets. The Bulldogs earned victories at No. 2, 3, 4, and 5 to earn their eighth win of the season. Marx was the first Butler student-athlete to win as he dropped his opponent 6-2, 6-3. Woods finished off his foe quickly after at No. 2 6-2, 6-2.

DePauw got on the scoreboard with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. Their final win of the day would come in the closing match as Matt Santen won his matchup 6-4, 6-2.

Rounding out the wins for Butler was O'Neill 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3, and Weldon taking a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 5.
