Men’s Tennis to Close March with Match at Ball State

INDIANAPOLIS – Butler closes out the month of March with a road trip to Muncie, Ind. The 8-4 Bulldogs will play at Ball State on Thursday, March 27. The event is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

The Bulldogs and Cardinals have met during the regular season in each of the last four seasons. BSU has three 6-1 victories during that span along with a 5-2 win that came one year ago.

For Butler to pull out a victory they will have to have a solid day from Brandon Woods, Tommy Marx and Austin Woldmoe. Woods leads all players with an 8-4 singles record. A majority of his wins have been recorded at the No. 4 spot. Marx is another player that picks up wins near the bottom of the lineup as he enters the match with a 7-5 singles record. Woldmoe is 6-5 on the year playing primarily at the No. 3 spot.

Butler's No. 1 singles spot has featured Pulok Bhattacharya in every match this season. The second spot has flipped between Sam O'Neill and Austin Woldmoe.

Doubles play has been highlighted by the team of Bhattacharya and Woods. The duo is now 7-0 playing between No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The team's top tandem is the combination of O'Neill and Billy Weldon. They are 5-3 at the No. 1 spot.

Ball State uses Ray Leonard and Patrick Elliott at the top of their lineup. Leonard is 7-8 overall while Elliott is 9-3. The middle of the order is being played by Austin Smith who enters the contest on a five-match winning streak. Leonard and Elliott team up to form Ball State's No. 1 doubles team.
