* 5-time Horizon League Coach of the
* 6 NCAA Tournament appearances
* 78-8 conference dual match record (men's)
Head coach Jason Suscha continues his reign as one of the Horizon League's top tennis coaches, as he begins his 15th season at the helm of the Bulldog's men's team and his 13th year with the women's program.
The five-time Horizon League Men's Tennis Coach of the Year has directed his Butler men's teams to nine league championships, including six in a row from 2002 to 2007. Meanwhile, the Butler women's team has come within one match of the conference title in two of the past three seasons and has earned second-place showings nine times. The Butler men's squad has amassed a 195-131 dual meet record during Suscha's tenure, advancing to the NCAA Championships in six seasons and touting the league Player of the Year in six of the past 12 years.
Suscha also took on the responsibilities of the women's team in just his second season at Butler, and has guided the Bulldogs to an 136-125 record in 11 seasons. His teams have have finished as the runner up in the league tournament times and have had 28 players earn spots on the all-league team during that span.
Neither the men's nor the women's record has come at the expense of sub-par competition. Suscha consistently schedules the toughest regional competition, including schools from the Big Ten, SEC and Atlantic-10 in 2007-08. His teams have also had unparalleled success against Horizon League foes during his time, boasting an astonishing 78-8 men's record and an impressive 78-24 women's mark.
Suscha's Butler teams not only succeed on the court but in the classroom as well. Twelve men and six women have received Academic All-American status during his tenure, and the 2003-04 men's team was tabbed as an ITA All-Academic Team, with six players earning individual academic honors.
Suscha has also served on the ITA Regional Committee and on the ITA National Rankings Committee.
Before coming to Butler, Suscha spent two years as an assistant coach at Vanderbilt, where he was involved in all aspects of the Commodores' successful tennis program. He also served for four months as interim head coach at Vandy, compiling a 4-0 record in dual matches.
Prior to his duties at Vanderbilt, Suscha worked for two years as a tennis professional in Doha, Qatar with Peter Burwash International, the world's largest tennis management company, and with the Tri-Cities Tennis Association. Suscha graduated from the University of Evansville in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in political science.
He and his wife, Liz, have two children and reside in Indianapolis.
