Herron And Warren Score Top Doubles Win, But Bulldogs Fall To Northwestern

Evanston, Ill. - Chris Herron and Bryce Warren tallied an impressive victory at the top doubles position against Northwestern on Sunday (Jan. 18) afternoon, but the decision would be the only for the Bulldogs on the day, as the Wildcats claimed a 7-0 sweep of Butler in its spring season opener at the Combe Tennis Center.

Herron and Warren put up a gutsy showing in the No. 1 doubles bout, battling the Wildcats' top duo of Marc Dwyer and Tobias Reitz to a 7-7 draw before claiming at 7-4 decision in the tie-breaker for the victory.

The Wildcats would claim an 8-3 win at the No. 2 position and hold off the Bulldogs' No. 3 pairing of Brandon Bayliss and Ben Raynauld in an 8-6 bout for the doubles point.

Butler's chance to battle back in singles play was cut short, as Northwestern claimed all six bouts in straight sets to pick up the victory.

The Bulldogs kick off a busy week of competition on Wednesday (Jan. 21) when it heads to Columbus, Ohio, for a 10:00 a.m. battle with Ohio State.
