Peoria, Ill. - The Butler men's tennis team put together its most impressive dual meet performance of the spring on Sunday (Feb. 8), claiming wins in all nine bouts en route to a 7-0 sweep of host Bradley.
After taking care of all three doubles bouts, the Bulldogs rolled to strong wins in the six singles matches to pick up their second dual meet victory of the season.
Chris Herron and Ben Raynauld got things started with a convincing 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles, before Zach Ervin and Lenz Theodor sealed the first point of the match with an 8-3 decision at No. 3. Bryce Warren and Stephen McLoughlin followed suit at the top spot, scoring an 8-6 win.
The dominance continued in singles play, as McLoughlin struck first with an impressive 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 6 singles. Strong two-set victories by Herron at No. 3 (6-1, 6-4) and Brandon Bayliss at No. 4 (6-1, 6-3) locked up the match in favor of the Bulldogs, but the scoring would not stop there.
Raynauld would hold on for a two-set win at the top singles position, notching a 7-5, 6-2 win, and Warren finished with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) triumph at the No. 2 spot. Ervin would not have things quite as easy at the No. 5 singles spot, battling for a hard-fought 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (8) decision to complete the sweep.
Butler returns to action on Tuesday (Feb. 10) when it hosts Dayton beginning at 5:00 p.m.
