Men's Tennis Falls Just Short Of CWRU, 4-3

Charleston, S.C. - Competing without its top three players in the line-up, the Butler men's tennis team fell just short of Case Western Reserve, as the Spartans held on for a 4-3 victory over the Bulldogs on Wednesday (March 11) afternoon.

The doubles tandem of Zach Ervin and Lenz Theodor scored an 8-5 win at the top spot, but the Spartans claimed decisions in the bottom two to earn the critical doubles point.

Brandon Bayliss and Ervin picked up strong two-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, while Stephen McLoughlin held on for a 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 victory at the No. 4 spot, but CWRU would get the wins it needed at the remaining three positions to claim the bout.

Butler returns to action on Wednesday (March 18) when it welcomes Indiana State to town for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
