Dayton, Ohio - Butler swept through doubles play before picking up four victories in singles, as the Bulldogs notched their sixth-straight dual meet win with a 5-2 decision over host Dayton on Wednesday (March 26).
The No. 2 doubles tandem of Ben Raynauld and Bryce Warren got things started for the Bulldogs, earning a convincing 8-0 sweep of David Peyton and Antonio Rodriguez. Eric Breitenbach and Chris Herron added an 8-5 win at No. 1, while Brandon Bayliss and Sam Brown completed the doubles sweep with another 8-5 decision.
Breitenbach, Raynauld and Herron kept things going in singles play, with the trio earning two-set wins in the top three singles positions, respectively. Brown closed out the scoring for the Bulldogs, taking a 6-4 opening set decision before earning a default victory.
Bayliss had his seven-match winning streak come to an unfortunate end at the hands of Peyton. After falling a close 7-6 (8-6) opening set, the Butler No. 4 player forced a deciding set with a dominant 6-1 triumph before falling 10-8 in the third.
Butler returns to action on Friday (March 28) when it hosts Indiana State beginning at 3:00 p.m.
