Indianapolis, Ind. - No. 2 seed UIC scored a pair of quick wins in doubles play before notching two-set decisions in the singles competition to top No. 3 Butler in the Horizon League Championship Semifinals for the second year in a row, handing the Bulldogs a 4-0 setback on Saturday (April 25) afternoon at the North Central High School Tennis Courts.
Butler will move on to the third-place match against Green Bay beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The Flames jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bout, picking up an 8-4 decision at the No. 3 doubles position before notching an 8-5 triumph at the top spot.
UIC then rolled to wins in the top three singles bouts. Sebastian Lystad tallied a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Ben Raynauld at No. 1, Bastian Harbo topped Bryce Warren, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 2 and George Hudson tallied a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Chris Herron at the third spot.
The third place bout on Sunday will be a rematch of last year's bout, which the Bulldogs claimed, 4-0.
