The Butler men's tennis team took part in its final tournament heading into the ITA Regionals, playing in the Purdue Fall Invitational at the Schwartz Tennis Center from Oct. 13-14. Freshman Brandon Bayliss put up the team's strongest singles showing, scoring a pair of consolation wins to claim the Flight C consolation title.
After falling in the opening round, Bayliss battled for a 7-5, 4-6, 6-0 victory over Peter Van Lieshout of Marquette to advance to the consolation final, when he scored a 6-2, 7-5 decision over Iowa's Walker Grimes.
Sophomore Ben Raynauld advanced to the consolation final of the Flight A bracket, scoring a 6-1, 6-4 win over Marquette's Nicholas Boulieris before falling to P.J. Rose of Purdue in the final match.
Butler opens the ITA Regionals in Minneapolis on Thursday (Oct. 18).
