Indianapolis, Ind. - After scoring a win at No. 1 singles and helping to top the 47th-ranked Illinois State doubles team, Butler senior Eric Breitenbach has been named the Horizon League's Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Wednesday (Feb. 13).
Breitenbach was instrumental in helping the Bulldogs secure their first dual meet win of the spring last weekend against the Redbirds, winning at both No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles. He teamed up with freshman Chris Herron at No. 1 doubles and scored an 8-6 victory over the undefeated and 47th-ranked duo of Daniel Tobar and Luka Marinkovic. He then scored a three-set decision at No. 1 singles, topping Marinkovic 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
Breitenbach is the first Bulldog to receive the league's weekly honor this season.
The Bulldogs return to action on Feb. 20 when they host Xavier beginning at 3:00 p.m.
