INDIANAPOLIS - Senior forward Chloe Hamilton was selected Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week after leading Butler to a pair of road wins over the weekend. It is the first time she's once this award.
Hamilton scored 16 points on Thursday to help the Bulldogs to a 64-60 win at Loyola. She shot 6 for 10 from the floor and grabbed seven rebounds. Two days later, the Holt, Mich., native went for a career-high 27 points on 12-for-20 shooting in a 66-61 victory at UIC.
For the week, Hamilton averaged 21.5 points and 6.5 points while shooting .600. The 5-10 senior is second in the Horizon League in field goal percentage (.576), 10th in scoring (13.7) and 10th in rebounding (6.9).
"We're very proud of Chloe for this award and for all of the hard work she has put in the entire season," head coach Beth Couture said. "She put together two big games for us, and she's been a big reason why we've been successful so far this season."
Hamilton and the Bulldogs (13-6, 7-0 HL) are tied for first place in the conference standings and will host co-leader #21/15 Green Bay Thursday evening at 7 p.m. It marks the second time in the last three years Butler and Green Bay have met with undefeated league records on the line. The two teams were also each 7-0 when Butler played at Green Bay in 2009.
