INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler women's basketball program has added Taylor Schippers, a point guard from Oklahoma State, to its roster. Schippers is a native of Houston, Texas, and started 17 games for OSU as a freshman last season.
"I am extremely excited to have a player with Taylor's talent join our program. From the minute she set foot on campus we knew it would be a great fit," head coach Beth Couture said. "Taylor brings the confidence, competitiveness and leadership qualities that we need at her position. Her offensive skills allow her to attack the basket as well as shoot the three with accuracy. I believe from an experience and maturation standpoint, Taylor will excel in our program."
Schippers averaged 3.8 points per game and played 17.3 minutes per game for OSU in 2011-12. She averaged 1.3 rebounds and had a positive assist-to-turnover ratio.
The 5-foot-8 point guard averaged 25.0 points, 4.7 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 steals per game as a senior at Concordia Lutheran in Texas. She finished her prep career with 2,935 points and was a McDonald's All-America nominee. She was a four-time all-state honoree. As a junior, she totaled 20.4 points, 5.8 assists and 3.3 steals per game.
The daughter of Norman and Sandy Schippers, Taylor will have three seasons of eligibility for Butler. The Bulldogs posted four straight 20-win seasons before last season and have been to the WNIT three of the last four seasons.
