Phoenix Dominate Butler, 80-48

GREEN BAY, WIS. - The No. 22 UW-Green Bay women's basketball team used a 71.4 percent (10-14) performance from long range to claim an 80-48 victory over Butler on Thursday evening at the Phoenix Sports Center. The Phoenix were 29-of-50 (.580) on the game from the field, while holding the Bulldogs to just 39 percent, including a 26 percent (7-27) clip in the second half. Butler, which has lost three straight, drops to 5-21 overall and 3-12 in the Horizon League, while the Phoenix, which has clinched the league's regular-season title, improves to 23-3 and 14-1.

Sara Boyer, who made five of her team's ten 3-pointers, finished with a game-high 23 points. Chandra Johnson recorded 22 points, and Kristy Loiselle added 10.

The Phoenix took its first double-figure lead off a Johnson layup at 11:13. Cortney Urquhart's layup at 7:48 cut Butler's gap to 28-20, but UW-Green Bay would respond by going on a 9-0 run to pull ahead 37-20.

Urquhart cut into UW-Green Bay's 44-30 halftime lead by scoring the first four points of the second half. But, the Phoenix took over from there, going on a 16-0 run over the next seven minutes to push ahead 60-34. Johnson's layup off a Butler turnover gave the hosts a 67-36 edge with 9:46 remaining, and Butler would come no closer than 29 throughout the remainder of the game.

Angel Mason was the lone Butler player to score in double-figures, finishing with 10 points, all of which came in the first half. Dionne Goodwin led Butler, which outrebounded the Phoenix 31-26, with nine boards.

Butler will conclude its regular season on Saturday when the Bulldogs travel to UW-Milwaukee for a 1 p.m. EST tipoff.
