Feb. 5, 2007

Indianapolis, Ind. - After registering a career-performance against Wright State while leading the Bulldogs to victory, senior guard Jackie Closser was named the Horizon League's Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The league made the announcement on Monday (Feb. 5).

Closser led the way to the Bulldogs' sixth Horizon League win over Wright State on Feb. 3, posting a career-high 28 points while shooting 9-of-11 from the field and 7-of-9 from three-point. Her nine field goals and seven treys were also career-best marks, while her six assists led the team.

"I thought Jackie had an incredible game," head coach Beth Couture said. "She not only did a great job on offense but led us in assists played tough defense. She had a real complete game."

A team co-captain, Closser currently leads Butler with 14.2 points per game and 4.1 assists per game.

Closser becomes the second-straight Bulldog player to receive the league's weekly honor, following freshman forward Susan Lester, who was tabbed with the recognition last week after posting two double-doubles.

The Bulldogs head to Chicago on Thursday (Feb. 8) when they take on Loyola beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET at the Gentile Center.
