Wendy Gatlin Resigns As Butler Women's Basketball Head Coach

March 4, 2002

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Third year head coach Wendy Gatlin resigned from her position at the helm of the Butler women's basketball team, the Butler athletic department announced today (Mar. 4). Her resignation is effective immediately.

Gatlin, who compiled a 21-62 overall record while at Butler, will be reassigned elsewhere within the athletic department for the remaining year of her contract. The Bulldogs finished with a 3-26 mark this season.

Butler athletic director John Parry will conduct a national search for a new coach. Current players will be included in the search process and the department hopes to have a new coach named by mid-April.

The Bulldogs have posted 15 winning seasons throughout the program's 26-year history. Butler made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament during the 1995-96 season, and advanced to the second round of the WNIT during the 1997-98 campaign.
