March 8, 2004

Senior Nancy Bowden has been named to the Horizon League's "All-Tournament Team," following her stellar two-game performance in the league's championship tournament. An "All-Horizon League" first team selection following the regular season, Bowden posted a combined 31 points, 18 assists, 11 rebounds and seven steals in Butler's two tournament games.

The Bulldogs defeated fourth-seeded Cleveland State, 69-59, Thursday in Cleveland before falling to top-seeded UW-Green Bay Sunday in Milwaukee, Wis., in the tournament semifinals. Butler finished the regular season tied for fourth in the league standings with a 9-7 record, earning the fifth seed due to a tiebreaker with Cleveland State.

Butler concludes the 2003-04 season with a 14-15 record, winning six of its last eight games. Bowden picked up her 1,000th point and 500th assist this season, finishing the year among the national leaders in both assists and steals.

Bowden joined UW-Green Bay's Abby Scharlow (Tournament MVP), Nicole Soulis and Mary Kulenkamp, and Detroit's Katie Solner on the All-Tournament Team. UW-Green Bay defeated Detroit, 66-54, Monday in the championship game to earn the league's automatic NCAA tournament berth.
