Butler Golfers Earn Academic Recognition
Butler women’s golfers Clare Cornelius and Molly Fields
have been named to the 2008-09 All-American Scholar Team for
Division I by the National Golf Coaches Association. The two
were among 410 women’s collegiate golfers recognized in
Divisions I, II and III.
Cornelius, a freshman business major, played in all 24 rounds for
the Bulldogs in 2008-09 and finished as the team’s
third-leading scorer with an 83.4 average. She placed
runner-up at the North-South Intercollegiate Meet, and she tied for
14th at the Horizon League Championship.
Fields, a sophomore pharmacy major, also played in all 24 team
rounds, and she finished fifth on the team with an 85.8
average. She tied for second at the Big Four Tournament, and
she tied for 22nd place at the Horizon League Championship.
To be selected to the NGCA All-American Scholar Team must have
compiled a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed in at
least 50% of the team’s regularly scheduled competitive
rounds.
