Bulldogs Finish Third At Loyola Invitational
SKOKIE, ILL. -- Sophomore Michele Nash posted a runner-up finish
in the individual competition and Butler placed third in the team
standings at the Loyola Invitational, which concluded at the
Evanston Golf Club on Monday (April 11). The Bulldogs
finished one stroke behind host Loyola in the 36-hole event.
Nash shot a one-over-par 73 in the first round of the two-day
tournament and then closed with a 77 for a final score of
151. She trailed individual medalist Lindsay Wandrey of
Western Illinois by a single stroke. Nash had the
tournament’s lone eagle and finished with a tournament-high
seven birdies!
Junior Marcella Moreman tied for 12th in the meet with a 36-hole
score of 163 (83-80), while sophomore Clare Cornelius tied for 15th
at 165 (86-79). Junior Molly Fields posted a final score of
168 (85-83) and tied for 22nd place, while freshman Alexandra
Arends placed 28th with a score of 171 (85-86).
Freshman Julia Porter, playing as a non-scoring individual, tied
for 25th place with a final total of 169 (85-84).
Western Illinois won the eight-team event with a 36-hole total of
625. Loyola shot a team score of 645, while Butler recorded a
646. The Bulldogs, second after the first day of play with a
327, shot a 319 on the final day, but Loyola closed with a 316.
