Butler’s Clare Cornelius Earns NGCA Academic Honor

Butler sophomore Clare Cornelius has been named to the 2009-10 All-American Scholar Team for Division I by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) for the second consecutive year.  She was one of 494 women’s collegiate golfers recognized in Divisions I, II and III.

Cornelius, a marketing major, played in all 27 rounds for the Bulldogs in 2009-10 and finished as the team’s third-leading scorer with an 82.6 average.  She had five “Top 10” individual finishes during the season, including a tie for ninth place at the 2010 Horizon League Women’s Golf Championship.  Her best placement was a fifth place finish at the PTSIR Classic last fall.

Cornelius also earned the coaches’ national academic honor after the 2008-09 season, when she finished as Butler’s third-leading scorer.

To be selected to the NGCA All-American Scholar Team must have compiled a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed in at least 50% of the team’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds.
