Butlers Clare Cornelius Earns NGCA Academic Honor
Butler sophomore Clare Cornelius has been named to the 2009-10
All-American Scholar Team for Division I by the National Golf
Coaches Association (NGCA) for the second consecutive year.
She was one of 494 women’s collegiate golfers recognized in
Divisions I, II and III.
Cornelius, a marketing major, played in all 27 rounds for the
Bulldogs in 2009-10 and finished as the team’s third-leading
scorer with an 82.6 average. She had five “Top
10” individual finishes during the season, including a tie
for ninth place at the 2010 Horizon League Women’s Golf
Championship. Her best placement was a fifth place finish at
the PTSIR Classic last fall.
Cornelius also earned the coaches’ national academic honor
after the 2008-09 season, when she finished as Butler’s
third-leading scorer.
To be selected to the NGCA All-American Scholar Team must have
compiled a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed in at
least 50% of the team’s regularly scheduled competitive
rounds.
