Michele Nash Paces Butler At Benbow Invitational
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- Junior Michele Nash tied for fourth in the
final individual standings and helped lead Butler to a sixth-place
team finish at the Don Benbow Invitational, which wrapped up at
Jacksonville Beach Golf Club on Tuesday, March 15. The
Bulldogs shot a 324 in the final round to climb into sixth
place.
Nash was the lone Butler player to break 80 on both days of the
tournament. She carded a 79 on the opening day and then
closed with a 77 for a 36-hole total of 156. She finished six
strokes behind tournament medalist Alainna Stefan of Detroit.
Senior Marcy Moreman rebounded from an 88 in the first round to
shoot a 79 on the second day and finish with a two-day total of
167. Sophomore Julia Porter (84-84) and junior Clare
Cornelius (82-86) both finished at 168, while senior Molly Fields
(85-84) carded a 169. Sophomore Ali Arends (91-82) posted a
173.
Houston Baptist won the 15-team tournament with a 36-hole score of
634, while Florida Atlantic finished runner-up with a 636.
Butler had a two-day total of 654.
