Bulldogs Finish Sixth At Brown Bear Invitational
BARRINGTON, R.I. -- Junior Michele Nash tied for tenth in the
final individual standings and helped lead Butler to a sixth place
team finish at the Brown Bear Invitational, which concluded on
Monday (April 11). Princeton won the 13-team meet, hosted by
Brown University.
Nash shot a 74 in the first round of the tournament on the
6,012-yard, par-72 layout at the Rhode Island Country Club.
She then closed with a 75 on the final day for a 36-hole total of
149. She finished one stroke out of seventh place and was two
strokes away from a “Top 5” individual finish.
Junior Clare Cornelius and senior Marcella Moreman tied for 35th
in the tournament with two-round totals of 159. Cornelius
shot a 79 in the opening round and then closed with an 80, while
Moreman carded an 80 in the first round before finishing with a
79. Senior Molly Fields tied for 40th place with a two-day
score of 162 (84-78), while sophomore Julia Porter tied for 51st at
166 (85-81).
The Bulldogs opened the tournament with a team score of 317 and
then improved to 312 in the final round for a 36-hole total of
629. Princeton claimed the team title with a two-day total of
589.
