Butler Season Ends At NCAA Regional
NOTRE DAME, IND. -- Butler’s championship women’s
golf season came to an end when the lightening-delayed final round
of the NCAA Central Regional at Notre Dame’s Warren Golf
Course was completed late on Saturday, May 6. The Bulldogs
were not among the eight teams that advanced to the national
tournament in Texas.
Junior Michele Nash paced Butler on the final day with a 78, and
she wound up tied for 41st in the tournament with a 54-hole total
of 230. She shot an even par 72 in an opening round that
included six birdies, before slipping to 80 in the second
round.
Senior Molly Fields tied for 105th place with a final score of
243, including an 84 on the final day. Julia Porter placed
122nd with a three-day score of 252 (85-84-83), while Clare
Cornelius tied for 123rd at 253 (88-81-84). Marcella Moreman
wound up 126th with a 54-hole score of 260 (80-91-89).
The Bulldogs, who won the Horizon League Championship and became
the first team in Butler women’s golf history to advance to
the NCAA Tournament, wound up in 24th place in the team standings
with a final score of 970 (316-325-329).
