Michele Nash Named Horizon League Player of the Year
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler senior Michele Nash has been named
Horizon League Women’s Golf Player of the Year for the second
consecutive year. Nash received the league’s top
individual honor at the league’s pre-tournament banquet in
Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida, on Thursday, April 26.
Nash, who leads the Bulldogs in scoring, is the second Butler
player to be named Horizon League Player of the Year in
back-to-back seasons. Lynnsey Showers was the first, earning
the league’s top honor in both 2005 and 2006.
Butler’s Niki Garden was chosen league Player of the Year in
2007.
Nash also was named first team All-Horizon League for the third
consecutive year. The Butler senior was joined on the
All-League squad by teammates Isabella Lambert and Jenna
Peters. The two Butler freshmen earned league honors for the
first time.
Lambert, who stands second on the Butler team in scoring, further
was honored as the Horizon League Women’s Newcomer of the
Year. Butler head coach Bill Mattingly was named league
Women’s Coach of the Year for the second straight
campaign.
The Butler women will begin defense of their Horizon League
Championship on Friday, April 27. The 54-hole league
championship meet will be held at the Mission Inn Resort Club.
