Butler Ties For Sixth At Indiana Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, IND. -- Freshman Isabella Lambert narrowly missed a "Top 10" individual finish and Butler tied for sixth in the team competition at the weather-shortened Indiana Invitational, which wrapped up on Sunday, April 15.  The 15-team tournament at the IU Golf Course was reduced from 54 to 18 holes after thunderstorms hit Indiana on Saturday.

Lambert led the Bulldogs and tied for 11th overall with a final score of 76.  She finished one stroke out of a tie for seventh place and three strokes behind medalist Kristtini Cain of team champ Indiana.

Senior Clare Cornelius came in one stroke behind Lambert and finished in a tie for 16th place, while senior Michele Nash shot a 78 and tied for 28th.  Freshman Jenna Peters posted an 83, which placed her in a tie for 66th place, while junior Julia Porter tied for 78th with an 86.

Indiana, playing on its home golf course, had all five players shoot 77 or better and finished with a team score of 298.  Ball State finished runner-up at 305.  Butler carded a team score of 314 and finished in a tie with Illinois State and Bradley.

The Indiana Invitational was Butler's final tune-up before the Horizon League Championship, which begins April 27 at Hovey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
