Butler Stands Tenth At HBU Invitational
MISSOURI CITY, TEXAS -- Sophomore Jenna Peters posted a "Top 20" individual finish and Butler wound up tenth in the team competition after the first day of the HBU Husky Invitational, which wraps up on Tuesday (April 2). The Bulldogs are one of 15 teams entered in the 54-hole tournament, hosted by Houston Baptist.
Peters led Butler with a two-round total of 155. She shot a 77 in the opening round on the par-72 Riverbend Country Club layout, and then she posted a 78 in the second round. She's one stroke out of a tie for 13th place and three strokes away from the "Top 10."
Senior Ali Arends is tied for 26th overall with rounds of 79 and 80 (159), while sophomore Isabella Lambert is tied for 44th with a 36-hole total of 164. Lambert shot a team-best 76 in the opening round, before posting an 88 in the second round.
Junior Ali Restaino is tied for 59th with scores of 86 and 83 (169) and senior Julia Porter is tied for 66th with rounds of 84 and 88 (172).
The Bulldogs shot a team score of 316 in the first round, before finishing with a 329 for a first-day total of 645.
Lamar University leads the team competition with a 36-hole score of 607, seven strokes ahead of second place Sam Houston State. Julia Roth of Central Arkansas stands in first place with a score of three-over-par 147. She shot a 75 in the first round and an even-par 72 in the second.
