Jenna Peters Named MAAC Golfer of the Month
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Sophomore Jenna Peters, who led Butler in scoring in three competitions, has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for March. She's the first Butler golfer to be honored by the conference.
Peters was Butler's top finisher in two tournaments and one dual meet during the month. She posted a 77.0 average over five rounds during the month, with a low round of 75 on two occasions.
The second-year golfer tied for first at the Don Benbow Invitational, but lost medalist honors in a three-way playoff. She grabbed the lead in the first round with a three-over-par 75 and then held the top spot with an 80 in the second round, before falling in the playoff.
Peters then claimed medalist honors at the Bulldog Florida Invitational. She again jumped out to a first-day lead with a 77, and she held the No. 1 spot with a 78 in the final round. Her effort helped Butler to the team title in the Jacksonville, Fla., event.
The Bulldogs ended the month with a dual match against Green Bay, and Peters topped the field with a two-over-par 75, while helping Butler to a 308-333 victory.
Peters leads the Bulldogs in scoring on the season with a 78.4 average over 18 rounds.
The 2013 MAAC Women's Golf Championship will be held April 26-28 at Disney's Palm Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
