Steve Jones is in his fourth year as head coach of the women's golf team at Butler University. He's also in his third season as head coach of Butler's men's golf squad.

The Butler head coach has guided the Bulldogs to back-to-back Horizon League championships. He was named league Coach of the Year in 2005 and in 2006. His 2005 squad won two regular season tournaments, while his 2006 team captured four regular season championships. He had two All-League golfers in 2005 and four in 2006, and he coached the league medalist in both seasons!

Jones led the women's golf team at Butler to a runner-up finish at the 2004 Horizon League Women's Golf Championship in his first season. He coached two All-Horizon League golfers, including league medalist Lynnsey Showers, and he was named Horizon League Co-Coach of the Year. He also guided the Bulldogs to a team title at the Franklin Fall Invitational and to runner-up finishes at the Tennessee Tech Lady Eagle Classic, the Cleveland State Women's Golf Invitational and the Butler Spring Invitational.

Prior to assuming his current position with the Bulldogs, Jones served as Director of Instruction at the Golf Academy at Eagle Creek Golf Course. He's also served as head professional and co-owner of Turkey Run Golf Club in Waveland, Ind., and as a part-time golf instructor at Riverside Golf Academy in Indianapolis from May of 2000 to July of 2001.

A Class A-1 member of the PGA of America and the Indiana Golf Association, Jones has been a prominent senior player in Indiana. He was named Indiana Senior PGA Player of the Year in 1998 and 1999.

The Butler golf coach holds a B.S. degree in education from Utah (1971). He also has completed the PGA Business School, I, II and III, and the PGA Rules Seminar.
