Butler Places Eighth At North-South Intercollegiate

Junior Nikki Garden placed eighth in the individual competition and Butler finished eighth in the team race at the North-South Intercollegiate golf tournament held at Jacksonville Beach Golf Course in Jacksonville, Fla., March 12-13. Jacksonville won the 17-team tournament.
Garden shot an opening-round 74 and then closed with a 79 in the final round to finish with a nine-over-par 153. She wound up eight strokes behind individual medalist Shasta Averyhardt of Jackson State.
Sophomore Ashlen Christie carded rounds of 81 and 79 (160) and tied for 23rd in the final standings, while junior Paige McCracken tied for 50th with a 36-hole score of 167 (84-83). Sophomore Lauren Showers finished in a tie for 61st place (88-83 171), while senior Sarah Swanson tied for 74th (93-82 175). Junior Amy Stafford, playing as a non-scoring individual, tied for 78th (87-90 177) in the final standings.
Jacksonville posted a team score of 622 to finish four strokes ahead of both Northern Iowa and Bethune-Cookman. Butler had a team score of 650.
