Senior Paige McCracken tied for second in the final individual standings and helped Butler to a third place team finish at the 36-hole Butler Spring Invitational Golf Tournament, which concluded at Prestwick Country Club on Tuesday (March 25). Ball State won the 10-team tournament.
McCracken shot an opening round, five-over-par 77 on Monday and then closed with an 81 in cold and windy conditions. Her 36-hole total of 158 was four strokes behind medalist Kirsty O'Connor of Ball State and left her in a tie for runner-up with Brittany Kelly of Ball State. McCracken's opening-round 77 was the fourth-best individual round in the tournament.
Butler also picked up a "Top 10" individual finish from junior Lauren Showers, who tied for fifth place with rounds of 78 and 83. Her opening round 78 was one of just two sub-80 rounds by the Bulldogs and one of just eight sub-80 rounds in the tournament.
