Senior Lauren Showers shot a team-best 170 and Butler placed eighth in the 36-hole Ladies Midwest Shootout hosted by Purdue University on Saturday (April 11). Kent State won the single day event.
Showers shot an 88 in the morning round and then came back with an 82 in the afternoon session to finish 31st in the individual standings. Her final round score was the best recorded by the Bulldogs in the tournament.
Freshmen Michele Nash and Clare Cornelius tied for 38th place with identical scores of 175. Nash carded rounds of 88 and 87, while Cornelius posted a team-best 85 in the morning and a 90 in the afternoon. Nicole Simon had rounds of 94 and 84 (178) and tied for 40th, while Molly Fields and Allison Lipps tied for 45th with a score of 181. Fields posted rounds of 94 and 87, while Lipps had rounds of 88 and 93.
Maude Aimee Leblanc of host Purdue captured medalist honors with
a final score of plus-three 147. She shot a 76 in the morning round
and a one-under-par 71 in the afternoon.
