Freshman Michele Nash tied for eighth in the final individual standings and helped lead Butler to a fifth place team finish at the University of Dayton Fall Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday, Oct. 28. Toledo won the 10-team tournament played at the NCR North Course in Kettering, Ohio.
Nash carded rounds of 84 and 85 to finish with a 36-hole total of 169. She tied Jaymie Voorhess of Eastern Illinois and Austin McDermaid of Oakland, two strokes behind Jackie DeMarco of Detroit in seventh place.
Butler's scoring team had just one other golfer in the "Top 25." Senior Lauren Showers tied for 21st place with rounds of 85 and 89 (174). Sophomore Allison Lipps tied for 31st with back-to-back rounds of 90, while sophomore Molly Fields tied for 36th with a 94 in the opening round and an 88 in the final round. Freshman Clare Cornelius rounded out Butler's scoring quintet with a tie for 39th (90-93 183).
Sophomore Nicole Simon, playing as a non-scoring individual, shot an 88 in the first round and then closed with a team-best 83 in the final round to tie for 11th place.
Butler shot s 349 in the first round and a 352 in the final round for a two-day score of 701. The Bulldogs were four strokes behind Detroit in fourth place.
