Senior Paige McCracken, wrapping up an honor-filled golf career at Butler University, has been named U. S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month for April. She's the third Butler student-athlete to win the league award in the past three months.
McCracken helped Butler capture its fourth consecutive Horizon League Women's Golf Championship last month. She tied for fourth in the final tournament individual standings, finishing as the only player to break 80 in each of the final two rounds. She was named to the Horizon League All-Tournament Team for the fourth straight year, and she was picked to the All-Horizon League team for the third straight year.
McCracken led the Bulldogs in scoring during the month of April with a 78.3 average. She was the medalist at the Cardinal Classic on April 13-14, and she was Butler's second-leading scorer with a 75 in a dual meet victory over DePauw on April 3. She was named Butler's Most Outstanding Female Athlete on April 24.
An English Literature and Spanish double-major, McCracken boasts a 3.866 grade point average. She has been a National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar and a two-time honoree on the Horizon League Academic All-League Team. She has been named to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll and the Butler Athletic Director's Honor Roll. She was named a Josten's Scholar-Athlete in 2006 and 2007.
McCracken is the first female athlete at Butler to be named Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month. Previously, men's basketball players Drew Streicher (February) and A. J. Graves (March) received the league honor.
