Butler's Paige McCracken Named League Scholar-Athlete of the Week
May 8, 2007
Butler junior Paige McCracken has been named the U. S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week for her achievements in academics and in athletics. She's the first member of the Butler women's golf team to be honored with the award this spring.
McCracken captured medalist honors at the 2007 Horizon League Golf Championship, held at Shaker Run Golf Course in Lebanon, Ohio, April 30-May 1. She carded the best final round score of the tournament with an 80 to edge teammates Niki Garden and Lauren Showers by a single stroke for first place. She earned All-Tournament honors for a third consecutive year and was named to the All-League team for a second straight season. The talented golfer helped Butler to its third consecutive Horizon League women's golf title.
In the classroom, McCracken has maintained a 3.811 grade-point average as an English writing major. She earned Academic All-League recognition a year ago and has been named to the League Academic Honor Roll. She also was recognized as a Josten's Scholar-Athlete for 2006.
McCracken is the ninth Butler athlete to be named U. S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week this academic year.
