CHICAGO - Loyola scored in the 30th minute and held Butler scoreless to defeat the BU women's soccer team, 1-0, Sunday at Loyola Soccer Park. The match was the regular season finale for both teams.
Senior Molly Kruger led the Bulldogs with six shots. Goalkeeper Jessica Schein made seven saves.
Loyola (5-12-2, 4-2-2) got the game-winner at 29:14 from Casey Berrier, who scored on a header off a pass from Maggie Doe.
Butler (7-11-1, 3-4-1 HL) had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. Loyola had advantages in shots (15-13) and tries on goal (8-5).
The Bulldogs will enter the Horizon League Women's Soccer Championship as the No. 5 seed unless Green Bay defeats league-leading Milwaukee Monday night (Oct. 26). The top six teams make the tournament.
