CHICAGO - After a scoreless first period, DePaul scored a pair of second-half goals to pull away from the Butler women's soccer team, 2-0, Friday evening. Butler's best scoring chance game on a shot by sophomore Mandi Kotynski.
In the 62nd minute, DePaul's Kelly Blumberg took a pass in the center of the field from Shannon Williams and buried a shot for what would be the eventual game-winner. Michelle Scandora added an insurance tally in the 84th minute.
DePaul controlled play throughout, posting an 11-2 shots advantage and 8-3 corner kick edge.
Senior Carrie Twyman had BU's other shot. Bulldogs goalkeeper Jessica Schein had three saves in 90 minutes of netminding.
DePaul keeper Claire Hanold only needed one save to collect the shutout. Morgan Celaya led the Blue Demons with four shots.
Butler (2-4) will take on Indiana State Sunday at 1 p.m.
