BU Women's Soccer Announces 5 New Players
The Butler women’s soccer program has announced the addition of five players to its roster for the 2010 season. Julie Burton, Anna Dolezal, Jackie Hafele, Nikki Hafele and Rachel Sklarski will take the pitch for the Bulldogs in the fall of 2010.
The five newest Bulldogs will join seven other players to form a 12-player newcomer class for head coach Tari St. John.
“During the recruiting process, we kept finding players we wanted to bring in to help us, and this group of five players is no different,” St. John said. “Each player brings us something to the table and we’re really excited to have them in our program.”
Burton is a 5-foot-9 goalkeeper from North Central High School in Indianapolis. She was named second team all-state her junior and senior years and is a two-time ISCA Academic All-State selection. A three-year starter, Burton led the Panthers to three straight winning seasons and two sectional championships. A three-time academic all-conference player for coaches Jimmy Carson and Tim Blom, Burton is also a standout student. She was a High Honor Roll honoree and has been in the top 25 in her class throughout high school. She played club soccer for coach Tony Jacklin and Dynamo 92 Red, helping the team to a pair of Indiana State Cup titles.
Dolezal comes to Butler after a solid three-year career at Mountain Range High School in Westminster, Colo. An all-conference player, she led coach Brad McNear’s Mountain Range team to two league championships and a 35-9-1 record. Dolezal scored 56 points (22g-12a) in her high school career. Academically, she is a National Technical Honor Society member and an honor roll student. She is also a national qualifier in DECA, an international association of high school students who study business. Dolezal was also a sprinter on the track team at Mountain Range.
Midfielder Jackie Hafele joins the Bulldogs after being named 2009 Kentucky Miss Soccer. She was a three-time all-region and all-state performer for coach Chris Moore at Louisville’s Sacred Heart Academy. A four-year starter and team captain, she helped the team to three state titles. She won three more state championships as a member of the Mockingbird Valley Soccer Club. Jackie Hafele is also an honor roll student and a National Honor Society member.
Nikki Hafele, a midfielder, will come to Butler with her twin sister Jackie. Nikki Hafele was a four-year starter and two-time team captain at Sacred Heart Academy. Nikki, a three-time all-state performer, was named 2008 NSCAA Kentucky West Player of the Year as well as ESPN Rise Player of the year. She was selected as Kentucky state tournament MVP her junior and senior seasons and was also an all-region selection. Nikki played on the Mockingbird Valley Soccer Club, helping the team to three state titles.
A midfielder, Sklarski was a three-year starter for coach Gene Harkins at Grosse Pointe South High School in Grosse Pointe Park, Mich. She was named all-district and all-conference while serving as team captain her junior and senior seasons. She led GP South to the district finals three times, including a 2008 when the team won the district championship and advanced to the regional finals. Sklarski played club soccer for FC Orange 92 in addition to two years of ODP state pool play and one year on the ODP state team. An Honor Roll student, she also played hockey and ran cross country in high school.
