INDIANAPOLIS – Sophomore Katie Griswold was named Horizon League Women’s Soccer Player of the Week after recording a hat trick in a Butler victory this weekend. It marks the first time in Griswold’s BU career she has won the league’s weekly award.
Griswold, a native of Youngstown, Ohio, found the net three times in BU’s 5-2 win over Miami (Ohio) on Friday (Sept. 3) afternoon. She scored twice in the first 12:10 to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Her third goal came in the 51st minute and put Butler ahead 4-0. Fellow BU sophomore Rachael Melendez scored the team’s other two goals.
Griswold and the Bulldogs will play one match this week, hosting Saint Louis Friday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. at the Butler Bowl.
