INDIANAPOLIS - Sophomore Katie Griswold has been named for Horizon League Women's Soccer Player of the Week following her performances this past weekend against Loyola and Detroit. It is the second time this season Griswold has won the award.
Griswold, a native of Youngstown, Ohio, helped BU to a 1-1 record last weekend, including a key road win at Detroit on Sunday, Oct. 17. The sophomore forward scored in the first half of Butler's 2-1 loss to Loyola on Friday, then added a goal and an assist in BU's 3-0 win at Detroit.
For the week, she had two goals and an assist. She registered four shots, three on goal.
"The belief that you can score goals as a team is closely linked to the belief you can win," head coach Tari St. John said. "Katie has been so reliable all season. Even when she's not scoring, she's creating scoring opportunities for others."
She was previously the league's player of the week on Sept. 6 when she had a hat trick against Miami (Ohio).
Butler is in the thick of the league race, sitting at 4-2 in Horizon League play with two home matches remaining. BU hosts Youngstown State and Cleveland State this weekend. A pair of wins would give the Bulldogs second place in the league standings.
