2010 Butler Women's Soccer
Friday, Sept. 3
Butler Bowl - 5 p.m. ET
Miami (3-0-0) at Butler (0-4-0)
The Butler women's soccer team hosts Miami (Ohio) Friday, Sept. 3 at 5 p.m. It's the Bulldogs' only match of the week after an extremely busy stretch to begin the season. The Dawgs played four matches in 10 days, including a five-day stretch with three contests.
This week was refreshing for our team," head coach Tari St. John said."It was nice playing a lot of matches early because we are a young team and we were able to learn things. This break gave us some things to catch up on.
"We got three solid training sessions in. We're now a more confident team."
The Bulldogs (0-4-0) have started slow, dropping three straight 1-0 matches to start the season before a loss to Indiana last Sunday. Butler's contest against Miami begins a six-match stretch where four of the contests are at home. BU also has a week off next week before hosting Saint Louis on Sept. 10.
One notable change for BU this weekend will be the first career start of freshman goalkeeper Julie Burton. The Indianapolis native has seen action in two contests, playing a half of scoreless soccer in the opener against Dayton, and 31 minutes vs. Indiana.
"For Julie to go to Dayton and have 45 shutout minutes served her very well," St. John said "She'll make some mistakes, most freshmen do. I'm excited for her, it's a great opportunity. She is looking forward to this opportunity to help her team this weekend."
Miami enters the match with a spotless 3-0-0 record. The RedHawks have wins over Alabama A&M, Chattanooga and Western Illinois.
