A big weekend is on tap for Butler women's soccer, as the Bulldogs host two home matches at the Butler Bowl. Oakland comes to campus Friday at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs then open league play against Wright State Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Bulldogs are coming off a weekend at Oregon State that yielded mixed results. While the team went 0-2, there were some bright moments. Head coach Tari St. John says the Dawgs now know what they need to do to be successful in the most important part of the season - league play.

"We need to put together a complete game, not 70 minutes or 87 minutes...but a full 90 minutes," St. John said. "I believe we are a talented team. But with any young team, the consistency needs to be there.

"We've been lucky enough to play teams good enough to punish us for the mistakes we have made. I say lucky because it makes the mistake identifiable and it provides urgency for us to make the correction. The lessons we've learned should serve us well in Horizon League play."

Following Friday's match vs. Oakland, the Bulldogs host Wright State, a team they beat last year on the road. This year's conference slate, featuring five home matches against just three road contests, bodes well for St. John's squad. However, league play is never easy and Butler and Wright State have been evenly matched in the past.

"The past few meetings against Wright State have been very competitive and emotional," St. John added. "Sunday's game should be no exception. Coach Ferguson will have his team ready to play."

Following this weekend's action, BU will play IUPUI at Kuntz Stadium Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.
